The Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia recognizes licence reciprocity, interprovincial standards (Red Seal,) and labour mobility policies. Cosmetologists from out of province or country seeking licensure in Nova Scotia must submit a Credential Review Application to the Association for assessment. Please contact the Association to schedule an appointment if you require assistance with your application. Phone: (902) 468.6477 or contact the Credential Review Department directly by clicking here.

Credential Review Applications are evaluated on an individual basis; this process may take between six to eight weeks. Applications must be submitted as a complete package, and the prescribed fee of $150 (+ HST) must be paid in full prior to processing. Forms should be completed in their entirety, including as much supporting documentation as possible. Please pay special attention to the Application Checklist provided on page 7 of the application.

IMPORTANT:
Incomplete applications will expire if no contact is made with the Association within 90 days post submission.

For those applicants whose first language is not English, proof of English language proficiency testing with a minimum pass level of 5 in all areas is required (equivalent to Canadian Benchmark minimum level 5). Click this link for more information on proficiency requirements.

For those applicants who are not Canadian citizens, immigration status documents (work or study permit) must also be provided.

Click here to access the Credential Review Timeline and, if your application has been denied, click here to access the Credential Review Appeal Process.
