The Cosmetology Association is the legislated, regulatory authority of all cosmetologists, salons, and spas in Nova Scotia and its mission is to promote the highest licensing compliance standards and universal precautions for the safety of the public and the practicing professional cosmetologist (Hairstylists, Estheticians, Make-Up Artists, Nail Technicians, Eyelash Technicians, Hair Removal Specialists, and other specific cosmetology licence categories).

WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Your cosmetologist must hold a current and valid Cosmetology Association Licence and/or Photo ID card. This ID card confirms whether or not the cosmetologist is licensed and is able to provide services to the general public for fee, gain, or expectation of reward.

The Cosmetology Association Licence/ID is proof a cosmetologist is licensed, trained in universal sanitation and disinfection precautions, disease, infection control and possesses the skill required to perform cosmetology services.
Salon/Spa
All salons/spas must hold a current and valid Cosmetology Association Salon Licence/Permit and/or Photo ID.

Every cosmetology licence and permit must be clearly visible to the general public while performing cosmetology services and must be renewed every year on or before December 31st.
If there is no licence or permit available for viewing (there may be a reason), please contact the Association at 902-468-6477 or toll-free 1-800-765-8757 to verify licensing status.
